Horizon 2020 is the biggest EU Research and Innovation programme ever with nearly €80 billion of funding available over 7 years (2014 to 2020) – in addition to the private investment that this money will attract. It promises more breakthroughs, discoveries and world-firsts by taking great ideas from the lab to the market.

The SGAM offers a common framework for modelling of the project use cases originating from different viewpoints. For the FLEXICIENCY project the results of the DISCERN18 project will be taken into account (application tools for the SGAM). The definition of the use cases will imply, among other, the identification of the:

-       data sources and sinks (internal/external) as well as their structures and semantics;

-       involved devices, their states, interfaces, modes, etc.;

-       processes (automatic/interactive) and interactions between the involved actors.

For each envisaged use case, a fine tuning and selection process will be performed based upon an analysis of the use value of the use cases. The use value will be estimated as a function of the benefits for the distribution network and the electricity retail markets. The selection methodology will ensure that only use cases with the highest impact will be either implemented or simulated in the demonstrations.
